I was just coming back across the field this morning with dogs about 6.15am and at long last I heard a cuckoo. Didn't hear one at all last year.
And Westi and the bees and lack of, I have a crab apple in the garden that is normally literally buzzing with hundreds of bees and there is nothing. I think we're in big trouble with pollination.

MW, I have already mentioned an article in yesterday's Sunday Telegraph in Hilary's broad beans thread. It really is worth reading. If you google "worried about more than weather" , it will pop up. Hopefully, the author is wrong - if not, we are in big trouble.
Apropos cuckoo, I have not yet heard it here, but I am told it has arrived at the moor edge and is calling lustily. Phew.
