I've got a bumper crop of sprouts at the moment, but no cabbages (swings and roundabouts, as always!)
When the supermarket had no hard cabbage at the weekend, I decided to use some of the sprouts instead for a coleslaw. I couldn't see why it wouldn't be ok, as they're so closely related.
I just thought I'd let you all know - it works.
No one suspected a thing, although son no. 2 did say that it was the best coleslaw ever!

Smiling, does son no 2 like brussel sprouts?
Talking of salads, tender young beetroot are lovely grated with a sweet sour orange dressing.

Sit down before a fact as a little child, be prepared to give up every preconcieved notion, follow humbly wherever and to whatever abyss nature leads, or you shall learn nothing.
