Just thought this might be a bit of fun.

I'm going to start off with, those thin paper-plates you seem to get at all buffets.
Kind Regards, Old Herbaceous.

Ring-pulls that snap off leaving you wondering where you put that tin opener.

That little tab on the foil seal of some milk containers, that tears off, leaving you to find a blue-tit to peck a way in

The clear plastic supermarket packs of salami which have a little tab on the corner saying "Pull here to open". They are never big enough to grab hold of and I invariably end up having to cut the pack open with scissors, which lets a lot of air in so the thin slices all quickly dry up.
And the "keys" on tins of corned beef which are supposed to open up the tins but often snap off leaving you to wrestle with a tin opener and end up paying a visit to A & E !

VPM - Try the Waitrose own brand clingfilm. It's thicker than some of the others and doesn't misbehave itself in quite the same way.

Can I nominate a whole class of things ?

Stuff that used to work, but has now been redesigned because of the recession, Chinese outsourcing, or whatever to be made from materials inadequate for them to be fit for purpose any longer.

Examples:

Trowels that are incapable of digging without bending.
Knives that take an edge, but dull almost immediately.
Secateurs that fall apart in normal use.
Potato peelers made of plastic so brittle they snap immediately. The latest one we bought also had a ceramic blade that stayed sharp for about 2 potatoes.

The world seems to be awash with this rubbish that is not fit for use and is simply a waste of resources. It would not be so bad if you could still get the quality versions at a price. but in many cases it is getting hard to find anything up to the job.

Toilet paper that has been constructed so that the perforations on each roll overlap by 50%.

Easy, separate the outer ply of the sheet from the inner, unroll one turn, hey presto the perforations will match.

The ticket machines in car parks that take your money only to chuck it out again. You are left with having to try to talk a fellow passenger or another car owner into swapping change at the ticket machine until the damned machine finds a 50 pence piece that it approves of.

Those little bags of sugar you get with your tea and coffee and even more annoying is the little milk sachets. Try opening one of those without spilling it.
