We picked most of our broad bean Witkiem Manita this morning (two large feeder buckets full) and podded and froze them this afternoon. The lack of pollinating insects has been apparent: some pods only had beans at one end, the other end being completely empty!

The second lot of broad beans, Green Longpod and Giant Exhibition, are still partially in flower, so we are hoping there will be enough insects about to pollinate those properly.

Last year was an exceptionally good year for our broad beans and we still have a few frozen ones left!

Dear Monika, the broad beans are much the same here, not up to their nomal standard at all.
Kind Regards, Old Herbaceous.
