Centipede? do I need to worry about these beasts?

Can't identify that mould? Got a great tip for keeping slugs at bay? Suggestions for organic weed control? Post them here...

I see these a lot when I lift my spuds, usually they are too quick for me to get a photo.

Centipedes are carnivorous therefore do not damage plants at all. They will eat any insect they can overpower and kill. So they are really a gardeners friend, although they do eat spiders which are also a gardeners friend.:):

I don’t know about centipedes but millipedes yes give a wide berth ,a guy in Spain got bitten with one it crawled in his shoe overnight next morning he put his shoe on without checking it got him ,he had to go to the local hospital every day for three weeks for injections plus he was in pain oh how we laughed

Strange but rarely see them in our garden and on those rare occasions they,ve been pretty quick movers (but so would we be with that many legs. I just imagined they probably fed on microbes in the soil rether than attacking plants.

Didn't they used to say quick things aren't a problem it's the slow ones that do the damage?

They look not so pleasant but they are harmless
