Aminopyralid contamination
Moderators: KG Steve, Chantal, Tigger, peter
Hi, does anyone have any experience of rotting down contaminated manure in their compost heap and then subsequently using this on their veg plot? Or any other suggestions of how to deal with the contaminated manure heap once you have it.

Dear LindaJane, a warm welcome to the forum.
Thanks to our lovely forum member, glallotments, who has worked tirelessly to report to the authorities and any other parties that might take an interest, there is probably more infomation on this subject, on this forum then anywhere else. It is also written in a way that most people can understand.

Kind Regards, Old Herbaceous.

Thank you OldHerbaceous for your kind welcome. I have looked at glallotments website which is brilliant and really helpful. I now realise that hoping to compost the manure is a complete no no. This is the second time we have had this problem, the first in 2008 and can't believe it is still happening. Most of our crops grew through it apart from broad beans and the tomato variety Rosada in the greenhouse was particularly badly affected and produced only tiny tomatoes but loads and loads of them. No more manure for us, just good old homemade compost.
Thank you Peter. The advice on the forum is brilliant and glallotments is doing a fantastic job with this huge and very worrying problem.
