algae/mould

Can't identify that mould? Got a great tip for keeping slugs at bay? Suggestions for organic weed control? Post them here...

Hi all.
Why in my unheated greenhouse has the surface on my seedling compost started to turn a green mouldy/algae green. In time will the seedlings perish because of this.

Many thanks

Mine do that sometimes, AndyTwin. I think it's algae and occurs when the compost is very damp. I use a fine little plastic 'fork' (or even sometimes a kitchen knife) to break the surface between the seedlings to let the compost breathe and dry. Unless you really leave it to cake the entire surface, I on't think it will harm the seedlings.
