Potato genome decoded

Developments in potato breeding and genetic modification look likely in the future now the potato's genome has been decoded.

Hi Alan,
To me it is wonderful news but will this country take the initiative or will we have the anti-GM faction spouting their anti-scientific clap-trap all over again so the technology will go elsewhere?

Tell them they make low-calorie chips and the anti-GM's won't stand a chance ! :wink:

Now they have the sequence many things will be possible but to cook chips without using the fattening process of frying is probable asking too much!

Well they could just add some extra vitamins to chips - and I'd be happy.

We make chips by slicingn the spuds, dipping in olive oil and baking them.
