Summer all year round in Cardiff S,H,!



Seriously,it may be that I am a little "old school" in that I was taught that the Seasons started when the Equinoxes came around,not when somebody in the Met. office deemed that they should start on a certain day/month when it suited them.
The other nit-pick I have with the Met.office is that now, a ground frost is a "grass"frost.If there is frost on the ground then it should be deemed that-a ground frost.

I've always considered,
March, April, May = Spring
June, July, August = Summer
September, October, November = Autumn
December, January, February = Winter
Purely on my experience, no matter what "They" say.

Hi Snooky, I also wondered why we were suddenly getting "grass frost" instead of ground frost. Although hopefully that will be it now for a few months. Our last frost was 5th May but it came close a few nights last week.

Well it really feels like summer, just picked the first bowl of raspberries.
I also have some autumn all gold raspberries and noticed today that the new canes have some blossom on the tips so it looks like autumn will be very early this year too

First handful of raspberries for me.

Had to mow the allotment track, pathway & carpark today, only the second cut of the year!
Looks like it usually does in August, brown & scorched with some seed heads

We have an open gardens in the village tomorrow, and this includes the allotments.
First time the allotments have been included, so i hope they are appreciated.

Old Codger has pulled all the stops out, and his allotments really look the part, and are a real credit to him.
As for mine, well i'm not sure what to say.

OH, posh gardens and allotments, a bit like showhouses and homes, allotments are growing / productive working places. I am sure yours is fine.

Although i did find a weed on one of them this afternoon.

It was a good summer yesterday - 25 degrees, not a cloud in the sky and barely a breeze. Autumn has started today, though - 16 degrees, a cold and very strong northeasterly wind which is battering all the poor runner beans and French beans. Isn't weather wonderful!?

Dear Monika, it certainly never fails to give us something to talk about.
Must be awful, if one knew what the weather was going to be like all the while.

I believe, OH, there are places in the world where the weather is extremely predictable. How boring.

We were out at two open gardens today around the county.....both normally private houses and gardens.

I even managed a couple of words on the local radio this morning by virtue of the fact that we were sat on a seat in Panton walled gardens in the right place at the right time...or wrong place perhaps in terms of having a BBC lady wearing radio gear and headphones suddenly wander up to us with microphone poised.

Mum made some Blackcurrant jam today....they were starting to split on the bush.

On the pantry shelf are 2 jars of same from last year dated 4th July 10....so it would seem that Blackcurrants are a month ahead of last year.
