Thanks for your concern and good wishes, everyone. Don't worry, I will be sensible with what I do and my governors are smashing in the way they are offering to deal with this and that. And the bottom line is that if I am overdoing it - or look like doing so - my wife will berate, castigate and slam me into submiossion and force me to go to bed and rest, even if she has to use a tranquiliser gun.. She's a marvellous carer and I am very lucky to have her with me.

Well, 8 days in and I'm still trotting off to the plot and sticking in sweet potatoes, brassicas and so on. The elephant garlic is ready to be dug up too, so there's a gentle task for tomorrow. But I walk leisurely and work with much less vigour than usual. I am suposed to be at my lowest ebb mid-week.

I know that this is only the first dose and with each successive dose one feels less energetic at peak and more tired at trough. I try to get a lie-down in the afternoon most days now and I'm avoiding crowds of people this week. Where better to do so than on the plot?

Stay with it Mike, beat the thing though whatever you do, listen to your body it gives you better clues than the doctors, best wishes and thinking of you at this time,

My next dose is on July 4, Independence Day. The nurses will infect the alien with their specially prepared virus and its DNA will disintegrate. Nice thought! [Actually I gather the predicted result is that the thing ends up in a coma, from which it may recover over an unspecified time, or not at all.] But it's nothing to do with me - they can do what they like to the little beast and I'll just get on with my life. The only thing is, if I feel ill, I'll know why, which is more than most people can say!

I can't find words that don't seem trite when I read them, best I can do is to wish you Good Luck & beat the little b.

great to hear from you and that you are not feeling too bad. I think a spell on the allotment does wonders for body and soul

Well, today I felt I ought to water some of the allotment, but then I thought I wouldn't bother, so I didn't. Feeling able to do that without worrying about the brassicas is just as enabling as getting there every day and feeling energised. This is my nadir week, so I'm entitled.
