Morning Toffeeman, whether it works or not it'll be staying in the hoover bag. :)
Kind Regards, Old Herbaceous.

Ewwwwww!! Oh, that makes me feel a little bit ill. I can understand the logic of it..keeping moisture in etc...but really?! Not for my little tomatoes!!

With the amount of fluff generated in this house (2 dogs, 2 cats)
I can feel a the possibility of a new financial venture coming on.
Anyone for fluff / name for this product?

Well, I think he has a point - what about all the dead and rotting little critters in the soil - plus all the bits that fall out of the sky when it rains? There must be lots of 'stuff' in the soil that, were we to view it up close and personal, then it might evoke a 'yuk' response. Why not re-cycle whatever comes out of the hoover bag?

What always amazes me is that people will use Horn and Hoof fertilizer but if you said that you put your nail clippings onto the compost there will be those that will go "ERRRRRR" and how awful that would be.
The saying "earth to earth ashes to ashes" means exactly that. All things living have a compost value when they come to the end of their life.
Including us!

Seem to recall reading some years ago, not to use the vacuum cleaner fluff, as most carpets had nylon in them.

Mine always goes onto the compost heap. I usually seen to end up emptying it around springtime (which shows how little I tend to vaccum !). The birds often seem to like it for nesting material so I'm not sure how many nutrients actually end up in the compost.
