Have Aldi/Lidl changed their pricing policy, because in my experience of the Lidl branch at Uttoxeter, the non-food items seemed reasonably priced until you went through the checkout and 17½% VAT was added.
I really wouldnt bother with the aluminium/-polycarbonate cold frames. After a while the polycarbonate seems to shrink and not fit the frames properly. A windy day, and you could have all the sheets of polycarbonate scattered over the garden, and no protection for the plants!!
Went to B&Q last week, and I know it's not fruit and veg, but for people growing plants for hanging baskets, containers, etc, they had surfinia/million bells petunias, fuchsias, geraniums, etc in 2 1/2" pots, 75p each 10 for £5.00. They were really good plants, with lots of cutting material, so I shall be able to increase the number of plants I have.

Hi Nog,
I would suggest you check your receipt the next time you have been to either of the above stores. Certainly last year the local Lidl was adding VAT on the receipt for non-food items.
How's the breadmaking coming along. I hope you've not given up!
Best wishes,
valmarg

I am sure that the prices are shown inclusive but I will check.
