This lightening which is 'charging' around the countryside willy nilly is quite obviously under the influence of Error 403.

Phew - drove past our site tonight and the bins are still standing :D

Think I may have pre-cooked rhubarb this year though

Luckily as the bolt deflected, it ploughed a furrow across the plot, so that's my potato trench sorted

Those must be giant spuds Sue, or is it really your Bean trench.

Could be

Could even be a big pit to chuck a certain ancient monument in if he doesn't stop teasing me about my compost bins

Dear Sue, are you sure you want me buried on your plot.

I'll try my hardest not to mention the said items again.

Probably not thinking about it - I have no doubt you would find a way to haunt the place & cause trouble

Serves me right for boasting, but I am not the world's best DIY-er (my husband visibly turns pale when he sees me making off with his drill) and a compost bin was quite an achievement

Thinking about a cold frame next - will have to wait till I get a day off on my own and raid the tool chest again - heh, heh, heh

I think i have got some old plans of the old Crystal Palace somewhere, you could borrow them Sue and just improve the parts that are not up to your standard.

Sue

I can understand why your husband goes pale when you use his electric drill.

My Governor's DIY kit comprises of a hammer (the largest she can find) and a screwdriver ...of any sort, plus tubes of No-nails and Polyfilla.

She hasn't found where I keep the power tools yet

I fully appreciate that some ladies are better than men at doing DIY jobs but my Governor isn't one of them. In fact its probably the only reason she keeps me around

you can tell the difference between an old fashioned farmer and a modern one by their toolkit.
one had a large hammer, cold chisel and baler twine.
the other had a 9 inch angle grinder and a welder :D

How true, Richard.

I messed about on farms every spare minute I had when young, and almost everything was tied together with string, from gates and tractors to ponies bridles. :D

Now all the tractors whizz along faster than your average ambulance and all the bales are far too big to carry.

Even nostalgia isn't what it used to be...

That did make me smile Richard. :)

Dear Pongeroon, we used to have four working farms in our village when i was a young lad, i too use to spend a lot of time workng at one or the other.
Sadly now they are all run by Woburn Abbey, the younsters in the village are missing out on so much fun.

I have to say, i did't think of you as a bit of a farm girl.

Pongeroon, don't forget the length of string which holds up the farmer's trousers. Still happens in the Dales today!

Monika, my Dad lives in a small village in the Dales, and there is one remaining elderly farmer. When he goes, there will only be 'in-comers', and my father will be the patriarch of the village. Not a prospect he relishes!! :? And he doesn't use string...not for his kecks, anyway.

OH, I was very much a farm girl, ponies, manure, lugging bales, the lot. I went to agricultural college just as farming was finally going down the tube...
And then went on to have a completely different career! Hindsight, eh?
