we've got an odd small bit of green lawn where my dh has been washing down his tile cutter! All the rest is just straw.

Just to show some of England is still a green and pleasant land, not sure if there's still honey for tea.
You can see why I have a weed problem - not just neglected allotment plots that create issues.

Just spotted a magnificent stag beetle flying around our garden. Haven't seen one for ages and think they,re becoming rarer so that was a brief treat.
Sadly a nearby breeding ground of old rotting logs was cleared by the local council a couple of years ago in "tidy up operation" so good to know they still have another breeding ground somewhere in the area.

It’s all bleached grass and weeds here!
I can’t remember the last time I saw a Stag beetle, many, many years ago….

I've not seen a Stag beetle since I was at school, which is a rather long time ago, we really are making a mess of the planet between us sadly.

I've been away on a trip to Germany this past weekend (and separately to Cheshire today). Sailing back into Dieppe I can say that the South Downs looked like they had been under the grill for a while.

plum and cinnamon jam is lovely, and makes a great gift for the (sorry!) festive season.

After reading, Robo’s post about his youngest having covid, I was just wondering who on the forum has had Covid?
Although everyone who I work for, has had it at least once, I seem to have escaped getting it…..

Never done a test or had any of the major symptoms so don't think I have had it, closest I have come to it was when Er indoors had it.
Still wear a mask & keep my distance from others so let hope it stays that way.

We have been in isolation for most of the time, wife is imuno suppressed and I'm now told to keep a low profile due to my cancer, we have tested a lot, especially go in and out of hospital, been lucky to dodge it so far I guess. My daughter and both of her sons had it, but the son in law missed it.

Both hubby & I have avoided it but we were & to an extent still are cautious in crowded places. The over 50's will be getting a top up vaccine in Autumn so that is kind of re-assuring. Also please get the flu jab, that caused big problems in OZ during their winter & just snuck in while attention was on Covid & they had a lot of deaths from it. I'm sure it will be pushed big time as we use their data to prepare for our winter tweaks of vaccines & general preparedness.

No Covid for me, unless asymptomatically. Nor has the undergardener suffered.
