Mr Primrose has just been contemplating the extreme laxative benefits of the beetroot we recently dug up. Much as I ike this veg I have to avoid it for this reason.

It made me think of all the other "natural" cures for ailments which people have relied on over the years. Does anybody here have any favourites, and do they work or are some of them just Old Wives Tales.?

I know there's a vast herbal industry out there but wonder how many people have experienced personal proof that a particular item really does make a difference for them.

The thing that causes a lot of humour at ours is Jerusalem Artichokes! I'm fine with them but Mr is sensitive!

I am told that if you have problems in that area. A pig powder works a charm. Though I hasn't to add I have never tried it.

extreme laxative benefits of the beetroot

While the colouration is or can be alarming, I have not found beetroot to be laxative.

Jerusalems:- Asafoetida - this message is on repeat!

And finally, I don't know about the curative effects of rum but after a couple, I no longer worry.

I don't know about the laxative effects of beetroot but eating it does sometimes give my water a nice pink colour!!
