My coworker down the plot is one of these keep fit fanatics while I’m injured she very kindly volunteered to sort the chickens each day it’s not a big job as I have it well organised but it means scrapping the overnight droppings up collecting the eggs and throwing a bit of corn around ,the layers pellets are in a hanging bucket with a big spring on the bottom the chickens peck it and a few pellets drop, anyway she is up and out early each day runs from her home to the plot and back again usually she is back home by 6 a.m. she tells me this morning it was snowing

It's snowing here at the moment and the wind is bitterly cold!

Just had son and partner visit 2 hours sat in the garden wrapped in blankets with Hot water bottles around the chimnea. Sausage sarnies and mugs of tea. Sharing Christmas Pressies. Weather? What Weather?. Happy

We,ve just had a brief snow shower here. Bitter wind. What a difference a day makes! The petals of our lovely magnolia stellata are perishing in the chill as I type and I'm watching our two resident crows attacking a lamb bone from yesterday's joint which has been thrown onto the lawn. Definitely an "indoors" day. I doubt there will be too many people picnicking on beaches today.

My son has headed to the beach to meet his girlfriend's folks...

I’m doing ok o.h. I went to the trauma clinic last week it was the first time they haven’t mentioned skin grafts they said come back in a month if all is ok they will discharge me and leave me in the hands of the district nurses ,I went and seen a facial specialist (at least that’s what the nurse called him ) last Thursday who sent me for an X-ray on my head on returning to him he said he could not see a problem with my teeth the only thing he could see was blocked sinuses so he has sent a letter to ear,nose,and throat I find it funny as my nose has been clearer than I can ever remember I can even smell my grandson smoking which is something I’ve never been able to do , I think I’ve had to many broken noses from the days of playing rugby many years ago in fact i was told by a long gone family doctor years ago that I had obstructions ,he was an Asian who had escaped idi amin he wanted to parr my nasal cavity but had left his tools behind in a rush to flea ,but it ended tragically for him and his family in the end

Your post reminds me, just how lucky I am, Robo...life is so tough for some people!

Just had Big Bertha the rotovator out...brought the soil down to the most fabulous tilth...bet Primrose would be so excited, if she had a plot of ground like that, to plant in...

too right OH althiugh these days it would probably have to be me standing on the sidelines directing operations which is an eminently frustrating position in which to find yourself as nobody does it quite like you would do yourself. Mr Primrose just dumps a plant in a hole and ci sidera jib done. . I pause to consider which stalk or stem should be facing in which direction!

It must be very frustrating indeed, Primrose, not being able to do what you want, especially when you are passionate about it...

"Oh, to be in England, Now that April's there" - I suppose it depends on where you are (unless you are on a promise from April of course).

It might be lovely and sunny but, by golly, that wind is vicious. Even our garden pond froze over last night. Everything will be well wrapped up and covered with fleece the next few nights, I think. Warmer weather to come next week .....

It was freezing unblocking the drain outside the house today, but had to be done as would have been treacherous had it iced over. 3 houses in a row all blocked up so we helped each other as my neighbour borrowed some rods. It was gross & the culprit was as expected was fat, but I collect mine and it goes out in the council caddy, as do the others. Someone further down must be putting it down the sink drain so we could be doing it again at some point in the future. Hopefully if it does it will be on a warmer day!

OK! Now mother nature is taking the Mick! Rain, hail & sleet this evening - oh & a big freezing wind! Settling down now but about 4 hours of this so far. So glad I remembered to tucker up the plants in the tunnel & close the door! It was not nice but even less so having all the critters inside blaming me!

Same here westi snowing for over an hour last night sleeting for a good few hour and freezing as well

Oh how frustrating to have waited through the dreary days of winter for my lovely white magnolia Stellata to bloom and then to have its glory trashed and wiped out by last night's frost. Somehow there is nothing more depressing to the eye than a mass of dying brown magnolia blossoms!

I have obviously left it too late to experiment with the recipe for Pickled magnolia blossoms in j. Parker's gardening newsletter which has just arrived You didn,t know you could eat magnolia blossoms?? No, neither did I !! Apparently they have a delicate ginger taste but if i was tempted to experiment I have now obviously left it too late this year. ,
