Most of the seeds planted fortnight ago have been potted up, garlic & onions have been planted in beds with the over wintered ones, broad beans are next to go outside.
Mowed the lawn on put gutting in old compost bag in greenhouse which gave a bit of extra heat when we had frost couple nights ago plus brought gave the marigold seed a boost.
Had bright idea of using old water butt for hotbed in green house, only got slightly warm, so that not a good idea after all, but should get some good compost though.
Best news of all though booked Ere indoors in for virus jabs.

The weather has been amazing here in Somerset. Ground now dry enough to dig and crumbles perfectly when turned. Just off up there now for another day of bliss.

Passed my local Butchers shop yesterday. Sign of the times. Meat was on the rear display case. Front shop window full of Veg & Fruit.

If you think a Porche is over compensating, you should see the Maclaren parked beside my parent's house! It belongs to a new neighbour and I have to turn around next to it whenever I drop stuff off. Not funny in icy weather. I'm really not into cars, but I can't imagine what my insurance would say if I slid into it.

Why do people bother with cars like this? Bewilders me. Five wheels and heat is all I ask...

I totally agree, Chantal! In the same vein, it always amazes when I see photos of expensive watches, thousands of pounds worth ..... You still only get 60 minutes in the hour and 24 hours in the day, which is exactly what my £9.99 watch gives me.

I'm not into expensive cars or watches either but you could say the same about other adornments such as hairdos, jewellery, and make-up. (I'm not into those either.) All designed to make people feel more attractive.

My vice is buying cook books and kitchen equipment. And I guess the food I turn out makes me more attractive too.

What's your vice?

One time we were visiting KL sitting in an ordinary Irish pub. I looked out the window and there were at least seven MacLarens parked outside the night club across the road. How the other half live, eh? Currently we don't even have a car. Being city centre, nearly everything we need is within easy walking distance, and there's decent public transport. Failing that, it's taxis.

My vice is plants. Honestly, I even try and save the half dead ones on sale ! I buy and propagate more, even when I have no spare space.

I notice OH is keeping quiet on the subject of vices...

I am with you there, retropants. Take me to a nursery or garden centre and you have to tie my hands down before I buy the lot, then bring them home, divide them, take cuttings ....... But then, I hardly ever spend any money on clothes, still wearing some which I bought about 40 years ago and even some which my sister passed on to me before then.

With you all with the plant/seed vices, but I have to add in chocolate! I hope it's just a lock down thing as I thought I had control of it, but until the wee tourist shop that sells Aniseed Balls opens it has to be chocolate - not fussy which chocolate but only that shop's Aniseed balls as they are totally my childhood - along with black jelly beans which the town doctor would take out of the supply he had & give to me as the other children would be disappointed if they picked one out of his tin while I was miraculously cured or what ever ailment took me to see him. The black jelly beans are now just another pretend fruity flavour without a hint of aniseed.

Westi - I'm sure if you're that desperate for an Aniseed fix there are suitable diversions available on the internet although if you're anything like me these days. much as we've appreciated the internet's convenience during lockdown, we're very anxious to get back to supporting our local shops and village High Street. It's going to be very much a case going forward of Use It or Lose It, and as one becomes older and less mobile one realises that if these facilities arn't supported now, it's our last chance to keep them going. We've lost count of how many of our local shops have already been converted into nail bars hairdressers or tattoo parlours , and whilst these may be important to some people it's the other basic essential shops on which we depend.

Strange isn't it how these childhood favourites linger in our memories - mine are liquorish allsorts which are quite hard to find these days.

I have been trying all morning to think of any vices I have but, I have drawn a blank...despite Chantal's thoughts....

If oH had a fault, whixh he probably doesn,t, it would be his modesty!

But does he really expect us to believe he doesn't even pinch a tiny advance piece of Cook's delicious pork crackling for "taste testing" when he's carving the Sunday joint??

I once bought a brand new moskvitch van you would not believe the comments I got when driving down the road I had it five and half years never had a break down one winter I did not check the anti freeze in the radiator it froze solid one night and pushed the core plug out I could have fixed it in five minutes as we had a new escort by then I could not be bothered and scraped it worth a few Bob now if I had kept it the moskvitch cost me £740 with a years road tax the escort cost £2800 with no tax and basic car
