CALAN MAI HAPUS - HAPPY MAY DAY

The first day of May in Wales is known as Calan Mai or Calan Haf, the first day of summer, in the same way that the first of November was known as Calan Gaeaf, the first day of winter.

Thanks Alan, even with the amazing Spring blossom we have been having there is no sign of the may coming out.

Hawthorn has been out for a good week here. We have some Scotch rose in our native hedging blooming, too, which is a scented delight.

Beautiful pic, thank you. I planted a packet of mixed hawthorn seeds in the autumn and notice today that at least 6 have sprouted. That's my contribution to mother nature s few years down the line, hopefully. :)

May Day - who else remembers dancing around the maypole in primary school (and getting tangled up)?
Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
