Evening, had a busy day potting on tomato plants and sowing some sweetcorn seeds in modules in the heated propagator, this will again be grown under glass as usual, if the weather would brighten up a bit I have leeks and onions that could do with being planted out.
Been gardening for over 65 years and still learning.

Sowed a packet of Cabbage ORMSKIRK. Nothing, just a solitary Tomato Plant. Then looked at the label. Exp Oct 2012, maybe that's why. Will have to see what the tomato brings forth.

Your tomato seeds are relatively young in that case. They normally remain viable for longer than that.

Most seeds should be ok except for Parsnip, though some 3 year old onions didn't germinate for me this year.

Anyone know who is still delivering seeds? Most sites are taking no new orders, including lots on 'A'! All I want is some show off long smooth female cucumber seeds for the tunnel & greenhouse! The packet I got only had a few in it - 2 survived the cat attack but didn't escape the slimy things that snuck in the tunnel! Any of you guys got any suggestions or got any spare - willing to pay cost & postage. I have outdoor spiny ones as a fall back but would prefer nice long ones. Even bought an organic cucumber from the supermarket to try but it appears seedless? Is there such a thing? Got a faint outline of a seed in it but just like jelly.

I got an email from Franchi today, saying that they had seeds in stock. I haven't checked it as I have loads from my old KG magazines, but it might be worth a look.

Edit: I've just checked their website and, yes, they do appear to be up and running, with stock. They even have flour!!!!

Westi, I just checked my cucumber seeds and they are 'marketmore' the picture of the fruits look neither long nor smooth though. You can have them if you still need some.

Nobody's commented so I might as well. Sat in the garage taking my boots off this evening when a swallow visited.

I wonder how they managed to find their way back, with no planes to follow! :)

Franchi are indeed open for business & delivering, however some varieties are sold out. I have my cucumber seeds & maybe a few others slipped into the trolley! You wouldn't expect anything else when let into the sweet shop! Thanks vivienz! Greatly appreciated!
