Lovely Autumn day after a ground frost, not quite air frost 0.4°C.

don't know if it's a bit early but i've weeded 3 beds (4x4 meter beds) manured them and covered them with black plastic, they should be well rich bye next march.

Now we are part of a combined council we have been advised of our plot costs for next year via little signs on the notice board, rather than the shock of opening the envelope in January. The new council have tendered us out to a wee council in the next village rather than HQ! I will pay £90 for each of my plots - worth every penny even if I moan a lot & we are so lucky having the committee providing so many extra's - our ladies really know how to bake a cake for our Sunday coffee mornings, shop is stocked, roads are usable, they mow my front in the summer & tend to ignore everyone's breeches with size & number of structures & friendly to boot even though they do regular inspections & don't tolerate 'pretend' clear ups! Probably why we still have a waiting list - maybe!

2 nights off frost has putpaid to my Christmas spuds although my pease and other bits and Bob's have survived,my outdoor toms where surviving until the frost

Today, rain is good...I can now watch the Rugby...

Robo, even if the frost has killed the potato tops, you might still have some little spuds in the ground/pot! Don't dig them up until Christmas.

I checked them this morning there is 1 still alive

Two jackdaws tore into the coconut matting in my hanging baskets this spring.

We have gales predicted again tomorrow. The rain & wind is getting a bit tedious even though the rain is not as bad as others have had to cope with! There is no little orange smiling sun in sight on the phone weather to give me optimism either! BUT I still have cherry tomatoes growing in the greenhouse at home!

Am snow down to my last two dozen slightly wizened home grown fresh tomatoes so feel a casserole or two coming on to use them up. It will feel a penance having to buy supermarket tomatoes again after nearly 4 months of home grown.

I bought my first 4 shop tomatoes today, feeling guilty!

We got the gales as predicted! 100mph on the IOW, 70 - 80 here! I had a bit of an issue with the shopping trolley in the supermarket car park but no damage done as it appears only a few of us were stupid enough to go out! I'm not sure my runner bean tunnel will be standing tomorrow!

Not the result I was hoping for.

Tend to go down to the plot three times a week. These days it is to have a cup of tea and biccys in a fellow plotholders greenhouse, normally putting the world to rights. This week the ground looking a bit like the Somme. Merry Xmas to all and wishing you all a good growing season.

Is there a heater in the greenhouse, Shalllot Man? It might be a bit cold to sit around otherwise.
