Early Autumn Bits and Bobs.

Well, I have been putting this off for as long as possible but, thought it is now time to face up to Autumn...
But at least we are going to get some much needed rain this week, so that's a blessing.

Yes, it has been feeling somewhat autumnal. The chilly mornings have been offset by some glorious sunshine.
I organised a car club meeting at the British Motor Museum on Saturday and the weather was perfect (for soft-top cars). Then the heavy rain (in Warks/Oxon) overnight felt like the end of summer.

Have just planted 130 Elephant Garlic, now I know Autumn is close by...

I was feeling a teeny bit smug after planting out two bundles of wallflowers and a pot of daffs

Yippee , a funny wet stuff is falling from the sky. All being well, the garlic goes in tomorrow.

Lottie is loving the rain, but home is suffering badly & between the rain & dog my newly sown grass has drowned. Message from nature - give up Westi, you're never gonna have nice lawn. Now Astro turf or some paving & more flower beds????

OH, I'm glad you started this thread as I could no longer contribute to the summer one.
The threat of frost (already!) has forced me to bring indoors the few plants I had out on the balcony. My tomatoes are all still green.
On the plus side, the physalis I've started on the little windowsill hydroponic system now has many seedlings. I'd almost given up as they popped up more than two weeks after everything else I planted at the same time. Fingers crossed for them.
I also have a new little trough (about a foot long) of wild rocket which has some promising-looking little seedlings. And a mystery! There are five alien seedlings already above ground - and more due to come out - which are very obviously not wild rocket. I have absolutely no idea what they are or how those seeds got mixed in with the new packet of wild rocket. If wild rocket seedlings were mice then these would be elephants. I wonder what on earth they could be. I'll have to wait and find out. Meanwhile, let's see if any of you are psychic - try and guess!
