Thought as it was so quiet on here, I would try a new topic and tempt someone to appear.... :)

Runner Beans are really cropping well now so, very pleased indeed.

Thank you, OH.
We've been harvesting lots of climbing beans (Cobra), courgettes and beetroots, in spite of the sparrows' attention to the latter. The garlic Mersley Wight is larger than I have ever seen!

Ive been putting pots under the strawberry runners this week. Some will be on their way to a friend in jersey over the winter.

I truly thought I'd get no Runners this year as between mice & birds I lost most of my baby plants then a couple of direct sowings, but I finally have beans! OK, not the usual crop, but certainly better than last year! I had such dreams of the tunnel dripping with beans to pick as I walked under - definitely not that last year & unlikely this year, but I do know that the plants will naturally wrap themselves along the arches of the tunnel & not flap around in the wind from the growth this year so maybe next year? (Mind I have to factor in what will happen when they reach the other side, they will not want to go downwards)! ;)

Thankyou OH for those cheery words. Mine is the worst year I have had. First sowing a complete flop. Second sowing, two plants. :( :(

Robo, did you sow them direct? Because I don't need very many plants, I always sow them individually into roottrainers and then plant them out. This year, I don't think I lost a single one.

Strawberries:- yes, must get around to those.
Good cropping:- my dwarf french beans, absolutely delicious. Chose not to grow runner beans (the undegardener doesn't like them and I prefer french beans too).
Good cropping:- the primocane raspberries are just in full flow (bigger freezer needed!)

Lots more to do.

I was just talking to Old Codger, and we were saying, "It's a job to know what jobs to do first".

I'm worried about these strong winds they are predicting for Saturday....the Runner Beans and a lot of other crops aren't going to like it one little bit.
Kind Regards, Old Herbaceous.

Last year I had so many strawberry runners I had not enough pots to keep them. This year so far: none!

Where did they go?

Well, all the tall sunflowers and hollyhocks are now tied to various structures - so I hope they survive. I've picked all the large dahlia blooms - some were as big as a dinner plate. Didn't think they'd survive the impending gales. Still awaiting the arrival of courgettes on my climbing courgette plant. It's escaped it's tower and has set off right across the raised bed and smothered everying in its wake. Only 3 flowers so far. Methinks too much sludge from the pond has made it go nitrogen crazy.
