Started the day with a strange light in the sky for a change after all the murk. The week ahead doesn't look good. XCWeather has four frosty nights with snow on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Met Office prediction is a bit less frosty with snow only on Wednesday! Better round up all my bits of fleece.

In major fit of over enthusiasm yesterday I got my garden furniture out of winter storage and set it up on the patio envisaging some leisurely cups of coffee in the morning sunshine! HA Ha! Today's my thermals are back on, along with the central heating. It just doesn,t pay to be too optimistic with our weather. I was going to start sowing my outdoor tomatoes this weekend but suspect a short delay will probably be sensible.

OH. Late Grandfather had been a Thames Sailing Barge Skipper in his young days, had a saying. You can always take it off, but can't if you aint wearing it.

That is funny Shallot Man, as my two Sons used to get fed up with me saying a fairly similar saying to that, when they were younger but, were very often grateful of it it too.

I do love some of the old sayings.....

Primrose, I might get the garden furniture out to paint it! (I'll then put it back into the garage)

Dear Mother Nature

I am sitting in the late afternoon sunshine and have been enjoying the weather you have delivered recently. I am really grateful as it has allowed me to get the allotment into good order, better than it has been for several years.

But please would you deliver some rain to the Chilterns soon.

With thanks in advance

Stephen

Same here Stephen, the allotment has never been so neat & ready to rock. I'm glad I sat on my hands & didn't sow much as I have had to water what I have sown like carrots, but other things I had in mind would not appreciate the dip in temp forecast. Rain is also forecast, so won't have time for too much than weeding soon so will be business as usual!

Hi Westi
I have held off sowing most things but keen to get a move on.
On the bright side, over 50% chance of rain tomorrow and 30% on Wednesday. Fingers crossed.

I've sown just about everything I will be growing this year ,I know it's early but at present I just have to do what I can when I get chance , on the other hand most of my seeds are doing well better than usual

Dear Mother Nature
Thank you. It is raining here, light rain which is good.
One day might be insufficient.
