ladybirds does it make to conjure up springtime? I've just seen one very busy little soul trundling about on an old penstemon leaf - at least it's a start

How lovely, Diane! It's strange how any little sign of spring is so welcome, isn't it? I heard my first mistle thrush singing today and last night in the gentle rain, a frog hopped across our garden path. It's be frog spawn next!

We,ve had a couple of brave bumble bees buzzing around our heather plants for most sunny days this winter. I always think the first frog arriving heralds real signs of spring but the ice on our mini pond has barely melted since the weekend's snow so I fear it will be a while yet. When I spot the heron regularly flying around overhead doing a recce of local ponds I know it,s time to put the pond protective covering on ! We,re not getting as many frogs in our garden as we used to so need to protect them.

I'd have to wait for spring then look for ladybirds!
It is still very wet and miserable outside.
