Ah, for past days when a young mans first acquired skill, was the ability to unclip a ladies bra using only the thumb and forefinger. :(

Beautiful spring sunshine and warmth today, and a few more days to come.
What a contrast to the same time last year :!:

There still is time for snow, storms and pestilence..... :)

A couple of good allotment sessions sees twelve foot by thirty foot dug over, the darker right hand part. Some of it shielded by wood chip and carpet was so wet you could mould pottery by hand.

Alan, quite right. "The beast fron the east" was miserable but remembering it stays my hand this year! All this lovely weather tempts us to do garden things too early.

I was digging the allotment and shifting some manure during the week and the soil remains very damp and thus cold despite the temperatures reaching double digits during the day.

Impessive stuff, Peter, a couple of frosts would be rather handy to crumble the clods, for you.

I planted out our pot-grown garlic and shallots today. The cloves/sets were planted in individual pots last October, spent most of the winter in the unheated greenhouse and have been outside for the last fortnight - so now they are in the ground, hopefully getting their roots down into 'real' soil.

Saw the first butterflies today (small tortoiseshell and peacock), a bumblebee and lots of honey bees!

Peter. That looks like good solid clay. You could set up a pottery business there! I guess that needs an awful lot of frost or digging to break down.

Thick fog, couldn't see the bottom of the garden, lot of frost forecast down to minus 6 in some areas this coming week, glad my blossom is still asleep

Fortunately for me when the soil dries a bit I are mostly using this.

I don't miss digging particularly since going over to raised beds, but I do miss playing with toys like that one Peter, my Dad had a big garden and I did his rotavating later on for him, hard work but enjoyable.

A bit of a frost this morning but quickly melted in the first 1/2 hr down on lottie & hit 15.5 degrees by 10.30. Cleared the burn area & used the ash on the onions & asparagus. That bed is planned for squash & pumpkins so dug it over & laid the pre-punched membrane - might need to re-invest for next year as despite burning the plant holes in it there was loads of threads, but been quite a few years in use so can't complain! Mowed the lawns at home & been adding to my 'To Do at Home' list for tomorrow - it is nearly March so will take advantage of the warmth & light & get very slightly ahead until back at lottie on Wednesday!
