Old Coldger Thanks for the status report. Glad OH is progressing steadily. We look forward to having him back in action soon. Lucky for him it's not serious gardening weather at the moment

Good morning all, I can't thank you all enough for your kind and supportive words, I really do appreciate them.
Woke up early this morning and for the first time, felt a little more like my old self. So I now know i'm heading in the right direction.
The operation all went well, apart from picking up an infection, that caused a few scary moments.... the worse part of the whole thing has been, during the operation I either had a disc move slightly, or my Sciatic nerve got pinched, as when I came around I was in crippling pain and this lasted for three days.....And as I could only lay on my back, I had no way of trying to get rid of it but, once up and about, it did ease off quite quickly, thank goodness.
I have always sung the praises of the NHS staff but, being in Hospital for the first time in my adult life, it was a complete eye opener. Even I didn't realise quite how hard all the staff work and their dedication even when under extreme pressure, is quite unbelievable.....even to the extreme of doing 12 plus hour shifts and then being short of staff, so then working through their breaks and still managing to keep a smiling face, truly un believable.
Well, going to spend a while catching up with what has been going on...it feels lovely posting back on here again.... :)

Thank you all again....
Kind Regards, Old Herbaceous.

Having had my allotment for forty years now, might be easier if OH dug mine first.

Hi OH!

Glad all went well & you are on the mend! Bit of bad luck there with the sciatica & infection - I'm sure Cook told you the lucky gardening gloves were not necessary to have under your pillow during the op! :)
