If it's nice outside, then a bit of gardening stuff can take place or a day out with my camera, but on a cold day with a wind that goes right through your bones, I have just had delivered the perfect 72 minutes of entertainment. I won a dvd on a well know auction site, Out of Town with Jack Hargreaves, now I know he was a bit(or a lot) of a story teller, but I used to love his programs, even if they were often fantasy.
Been gardening for over 65 years and still learning.

Congratulations on winning the auction.I loved his programmes. Also Harry Dodson. At the moment I'm keeping myself busy learning how to Loom Knit. Normal knitting and crochet seems to hurt my thumb so I'm trying something different. Today nice Mr. Fothergill has sent me the two packets of seeds I ordered plus two free veg packets too - so my mind is now wandering away from wool to weather watching!

Jack hargreaves was a one off , his tales are legendary ,this time of year is hard going I have to go down the plot each day to check on my chickens I also use the time to give the dog a bit of exercise now he is getting on a bit he is happy to see his chickens every day it tires him out and he usually sleeps the rest of the day , I like my sea fishing at the moment I'm planning on going out on Sunday as we are stuck to locking out then in it makes it a long day usually between ten and twelve hours

This year it seems that rather than get involved in anything I shall hibernate.

I usually treat myself to arm armful of books from the library and bitterly cold winter days are an ideal opportunity to Wade my way theiugh them. Right now the garden is awash with flashes of green as hungrynparkeets descend o. Our bird feeders. I guess most of the easily accessible berries have already disappeared.
It's one of those windy days when you realise what a howling gale can actually come through those tiny ventilation slots in double glazed windows!

Making minestrone soup (or "Bottom of the fridge" soup as it's popularly known in this household.
We always seem to have a lot of vegetables to use up, and with lots of Christmas socialising meals to get through as well as traditional Christmas meals, it's sometimes a welcome relief to eat simply !
It goes against my grain to throw excess vegetables on the compost heap. My granny, who fed a family of six during the First World War, and my mum who similarly struggled with rations in the second World War would come back and haunt me !!
