It reminds me when my wife was discussing the removal of a cancer in her liver the specialist was saying it was no problem we insert a needle and heat the end up to around a thousand degrees this will fry it so I asked should I bring the onions he was a bit dismayed he said only in the north would I get a request for liver and onions no body in any other part of the country would put the two together now I find that hard to believe although I'm not a lover they do make a nice gravy or is it juew now I think that how it's spelt

New Suttons seed catalogue arrived today.
Can't say I was impressed with the choices offered.

Had to see the Physiotherapist at the Hospital today, what a lovely Lady, funny, kind and knew her job back to front.... she wants to see me 2 weeks after the operation for incontinence, so I told her to wear some wadders...
Kind Regards, Old Herbaceous.

Following that, I thought you might like to read this letter in today's Guardian:
Note from the newsagent attached to the Christmas Eve Guardian: 'Dear Customer, we are closed on the 25th and 26th December. We apologise for the incontinence and we hope you have a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year'

Crikey OH, how many people you intending to feed.
I pushed the boat out today and ordered grafted tomatoes, our previous experiments with them justify the cost of purchase
Also ordered Kelsae onion plants, I am aiming to leave behind me the winner of the over 8oz class even if I am no longer around to pick up the card. My daughter will grow them on after my demise
Had a good sort out of seeds in stock and also ordered those that need new stock or topping up or we are trying for the first time.
Things like Turks Turban or Italian yellow beans

Nearly half of them are for Old Codger, so i'm not quite as greedy as you think, Pa Snip....
I'm sure the onions will turn out to be spectacular, with your hand guiding one way or the other......
Reminded me to get my seed sorted out, as I think it will be in short supply anytime now....

It's really strange for me this year not to be poring over the new seeds catalogues and picking which varieties to choose. Most of my requirements will be met by the free seeds which seem to be attached to most gardening magazines nowadays, though I will still pick a few choice ones from catalogues. All the potatoes will be grown in large pots, so I will get them from the local garden centre in twos and threes. Life will never the the same again ..... I am already missing the allotment.

Monica, rather than think about missing it you might be happier thinking about the many successes over the years that might adapt to the spaces you can now use.

Awe Monika, I do feel for you!
I have just popped my back again so have to be patient & not go down to lottie as too tempting to pull a weed or such. Although I am grafting in Mr Westi to complete the burn as it's been dry for several days. I am itching to get cracking on the 'to do' list, but I can be there again soonish, but you have to re-adapt permanently. I feel bereft with missing just a few weeks, it must feel so strange for you to have to downsize & adapt. I am sure with your experience & knowledge you will be successful & as none of us are getting any younger your experiences of the new regime could be very handy for us all.
All the best & looking forward to reading your updates.

I'm not surprised, although at this time of the year, I find it hard to love the 'lottie (it's different once spring arrives).

Knowing The Grauniads reputation it could just as easily be a typesetting mistake in that paper, except of course typesetting is a thing of the past. Hallelujah predictive text.
Wonder if the newsagent wet himself when he realised what he had sent out to his customers
