Dear Primrose,
my pole beans are runner types this year; white enorma, czar and greek gigantes (real seed catalogue) all of which I am growing for SEED (butter beans - yum) so by the time they are ready for harvesting as dry pods the chilli oil will have worn off. Unless, of course, you are a thief and take them as green pods.......

Robo - I have thought of getting a wildlife cam but if the thieves are total strangers having their picture would not be helpful and if they are fellow plot holders I am not really sure I would want to know as it could cause a lot of problems. Yes I know pictures would be "proof" but it would still be their word against mine.

Regards Sally Wright.

OH, could you be doing the same as I was when I read this,

I was confusing Enorma Runner beans, which have red flowers, with Enorma Butter beans which are white.

I've never grown butter beans

Exactly what I have done, Pa Snip, so, thank you for showing me the error of my ways.... :)
