Hi robo,

Just goes to show the old adage that the camera never lies is in fact a lie in itself.

The plot looks bigger because of the width I think and what you cannot tell is the depth my plot. If you look at the lime green shed on the plot next to mine in the first wide angle picture that gives some perspective as to the depth of my plot as hat shed marks to division
point of a whole plot split in half front to back.

Good morning. I need advice about raised beds, please. I have a veggie plot in a city garden and am finding it more and more difficult getting down to ground level! Are beds tailored to the height of the gardener? And I see from your pictures that you have beds of varying heights. Why? Also, how much space is needed between the beds to move around them? As you can see I have many queries and shall look forward to hearing from when you have time.

Morning Vdp.

The reason behind my building the raised beds is not dissimilar to yours. I dont want to spend so much time stooping and eventually my daughter who has some mobility issues will be taking the plot over.

The lowest beds are the first ones I built 4 to 5 years ago, since then as a combined result of my own findings as well as watching her on the plot I started to make them higher. The down side of the tallest beds is the cost of filling them with decent soil. However the up side is how easy they are to work.
If the reasoning for anyone to build raised beds is because of mobility issues I suggest go for the middle or tallest sizes pictured on my plot
The middle height is probably about right for someone working from a wheelchair, the tallest could well be too high to work from a wheelchair

As for gap between beds, again this depends on if the individual concerned can get round on two feet or needs a wheelchair, however whilst laying out my pathways I tok into account my wheelbarrow width which I figured to be about the same as a wheelchair should we ned to use one.
My other paths vary between 15 to 18 inches

Good luck with the project, hope I have answered your current questions. Feel free to ask if youhave any further thoughts / misgivings etc.

Peeved, yes.
Gave a extensive reply and not so much as a acknowledgment. :(
Thankfully people do still answer questions.

Y're getting grumpy in y're old age, PS. Perhaps VDP has been away for a week - if he's like me the last thing he takes with him is the Internet.
