Must be Summer I've strimmed the daffodils today. They have stayed green a long time despite the dryness so hopefully it means good flowers next year.

Lovely day today. Best solar generation since I got the panels in October 2014 - I suppose if you get a good day near the solstice it's hard to beat. Then a nice sunset - always love a sunset.

Noticed signs of possible early blight onset on tomatoes last night whilst watering, small light brown patches on main stem and side stem.

Be interesting to see what develops and how quickly.

Pa thanks for that warning. We're only a few miles away so will go out and inspect mine. They're currently growing so well. I'll be gutted if they get blighted. I,m becoming very sceptical abiut these blight resistant claims. My Ferline, allegedly blight resistant ones last year were the first to be attacked, ahead of my common old Moneymakers !

For the last two days I've been sitting in our local hospital with my wife all because the district nurse was not happy with the wound from her operation 10 days ago, at seven tonight we get told there are no beds and what is annoying there is nobody capable of getting blood out of her ,now I know she is not the easiest person to get blood from as she douse not have any veins showing but this is on the point of disgusting

Oh, Robo, best wishes for your wife! It's so sad how the NHS is struggling - the staff do a brilliant job in strained circumstances.
One of our grandsons, a great 30 year old (husband, father and very keen worker) has been waiting for surgery on a collapsed lung for the last 10 days after having been pushed from one hospital to another - no bed free, no staff available ...... The op has now been scheduled for Wednesday and we are hoping for the best.

Makes me angry to read this. Somewhere in your hospital are people in beds that your wife needs filled with people who should be in Mental Health facilities - reduced beds, some that should be home with care - no care capacity due to rubbish wages, some with families fighting - social playing nice & going through the courts to sort it, some in Police custody but limited night cover due to cuts! The NHS may be a safe place but stop every other service taking the piss out of it by looking at the whole of Health & Social care!

Jolly nice giving us a pay rise Jeremy but we are physical health, throw some money to the other services as well! It's a great institution that gives kudos to whatever Government is in, but it does cost & Joe Public knows that, but costs our generation a lot less than previous generations, but they knew the alternative was cost prohibitive on their wages & embraced it! The alternative is still cost prohibitive now - make people aware, get back mental health beds, think about Police Nurses!

Sorry in advance if I have offended anyone but I'm NHS & we are blocked with people who shouldn't be stuck in a service that can't meet their needs - we're made for health needs!

Robo and Monika. Hope yiur family members soon get the care and beds they need. It,s so stressful and anxiety making when yiu know someth8ng needs to happen urgently and the system can't cope. It seems to be an almost daily fact of life now, whatever part of the NHS environment you look at.

Best of wishes to you all, the staff do such a good job under tough conditions...I should be angry too, as the Hospital lost half my biopsies, so back to the beginning again ....

Thanks to all who commented I was a bit annoyed when I posted last night having just walked through the door , I think our health service do a brilliant job but their hands are tied it's not the nurses fault there are no spare beds or the only specialist capable of taking blood are in the theatre and two more emergencies waiting , anyway I'm off watering the plot

Another case of irony sets itself before me.

I know, because I hear, how the NHS is suffering. But I do find it ironic that given a rare form of terminal cancer and all the attention that entails I can't say a bad word about the NHS or it's staff given the experiences of the last 3 years..

Hope those of you undergoing issues soon get them resolved

Well the hospital don't want to see me for three months so I'm enjoying the summer and trying not to think about the wonderful NHS.

I've been doing a bit of trimming back, tidying and dead heading and I've had to come in to cool down. It's 30° again today so I've put off planting out the Swiss chard and brassicas again.

I'm looking through the new K.G. magazine and drinking a lovely strawberry smoothie made with fresh strawberries, a dollop of last year's strawberry ice cream and topped up with milk. Delicious

I'm not complaining but it's to hot to do any work I think I will have to adopt the Spanish ways of working who are grafting away in the fields at five in the morning gone by eleven to sleep the afternoon away only trouble is my chickens don't lay till lunch time by which time I will be asleep
