It forecast thunder storms here but only got within ten miles of us. So we're still waiting. At least the rainy afternoon last week filled up the water butts.

Must be good weather at Old Herbaceous 's place as he is fairly quiet for him.
Out trying to keep up with the growing grass no doubt.

tigerburnie I filled one of mine two days ago with the hosepipe , it defeats the idea of having them as our water is full of lime it's hard water as people say ,I was going to put a couple of bottles of tomatorite in one of them but seems a waste now

Ironic how lack of rain dampens gardeners spirits

I tried doing a bit of hoeing today the soil is like concrete I am sure I seen sparks coming off the blade of the hoe ,I've watered every day most of the time ive saturated the plot but it's very warm with slight winds and dries the whole plot in no time ,no rain forecast for over seven days from tonight so we should get a good rainfall tomorrow

A thick sea Harr has rolled in on a gentle breeze this morning, that will give us a rest from the heat.

We had a huge storm Thursday night, with a huge amount of rain, in a very short time.....so I have been busy, hoeing a soil that has gone very flat....

It doesn't help that you get such generic weather forecasts as well. I have 2 apps on my phone & checked next weeks weather as I was told at the allotment that there is no rain expected next week. One app showed no rain indeed, just cloudy & a low % chance. The other told me rain all week except for Mon & Wed? Hmmm???

Sudden unexpected downpour currently happening after a gloriously sunny day. Not too unhappy. It will save a tedious watering job tomorrow, especially the late dose of Weed & Feed we put on the lawns yesterday. Had a good garage clearout on Friday and discovered a forgotten almost used bag of it so a shame to waste as it's not cheap. Hope the ingredients wil still be active !

That's the problem with overstocked sheds and garages. You forget what you,ve got or where it,a stored and sometimes it seems easier to go out and buy new rather than turn the place upside down looking for something.......which obviously explains the four containers of Tomorite I found !

I could do with some of those poppy seeds Peter. I could sow them in the road gutters round here and created quite a spectacular display. Pity they only flower for one. day. They could complement my planned pothole planting competition!
