Has anyone else noted that Albert Bartlett Rooster seed pots vary in size from Pigeon to Ostrich in the same pack, I felt as if I could of made a big pan of chips with some of the seed.Plus one of the sacks I bought Had Blight in it which I swapped with my local supplier with no problem.

Good morning Arthur e, i think it is the same with many varieties and not limited to Rooster....i think it depends more on, where you purchase them from. Still annoying when this happens and there certainly shouldn't be blighted seed n there....

Think I have only ever purchased Bartlett seed potatoes only once many years ago. Felt I was paying for the name more than I could buy other good quality seed potatoes for.

I am about to learn something hopefully though, How do you tell seed potatoes have blight in the sack ? Do you just mean they were rotting ?

Hi Ya, I for the first time bought Albert Bartlett seed potatoes from mail order at "yougarden", The packaging left a lot to be desired and they sent a replacement twice, the third time with out me asking. I found the seed spuds, no fault of the supplier, left a lot to be desired. The seeds were all different sizes and ranged from 15 to 22 in each 2kg bag. There were several that were soft and I could smell the rot before taking them out of the box they came in and a friend stood by me at the time I opened them even commented on it. Several had slits in them like a knife had been used. Some felt soft and mushy and got binned, so I know now I am not the only one to suffer. I bought purple majesty and the price was fair. Due to the condition I will not buy Albert Bartlett again. I attach no blame to the supplier in fact they were very good about it and helpful.

I have a bag of Albert Bartlett Roosters sat chitting away nicely, they look to be in excellent condition.

Having been caught like that (varying sizes of seed potatoes, indifferent quality etc), I now always buy my seed potatoes from a source where I can pick them singly myself. It also means that I can buy exactly the number of potatoes I want according to the space I have.

Monika. Stopped buying by post some years ago. Now go to a nursery and self select.

I got mine from the Dobbies garden centre, they were in a see through mesh like bag, so I was able to check them before buying.

100 percent germination, we will have to see if the crops any good later, though it's a good start.
