The usual performance here this morning for my OH - going round all the equipment and changing the times. As it only happens twice a year, can never remember how to do it. And for the next six months the clock in my car will be a hour out of date !

it will be nice to have the lighter evenings, but only when it gets warmer outside to take advantage of them.

A wise decision, Tigerburnie....and one that i will be following.

Hmm confesion time, just been down the greenhouse and before I knew it, PSB, Romanesco, Golden Acre Primo and some Leeks just jumped into the small propagator, no patience some people. I am looking for around half a dozen each of the Brassicas, I will sow more in a month or so for, hopefully staggered cropping and will need about 2 dozen Leeks.

Tigerburnie. You're In good company. I,ve just sown a couple of punnets of purple sprouting broccoli and curly kale. Will leave them in outside mini plastic greenhouse and see what happens.
I,m trying to reduce my use of plastic but find the small plastic punnets of stuff from supermarkets very useful when I just want to sow half a dozen seedlings of something. Am trying to build up my stocks before they disappear - as the old fashioned light bulbs did before these horrible low energy bulbs were introduced!

It happens every year. A dry Spring day and my sap starts to rise, even though the joints are starting to creak a little.

I was having a wardrobe clear out and clothes washing session today to take advantage of the weather and decided that my scruffy gardening anorak would benefit from a session in the washing machine.
My husband reminded me that it was probably a couple of years old when I was wearing it in slightly more sociable surroundings on our honeymoon 51 years ago! , This probably isn't a record for "old gardening clothes" but a good wash and dry outdoors has encouraged me to think I might manage to make it last another couple of years. I've put on a little weight since those days but fortunately it still fits!

If only my gardening gloves would last as long !

I've been hearing stories about what a wash out yesterday was from a weather point of view. Certainly it wasn't an outdoor gardening day ! our village butcher was bemoaning the fact that he'd prepared a massive meat order for an outdoor event which was cancelled at an hour's notice because the field and parking facilities where it was to be held had turned into a bog and the organisers were worried about cars being stuck in the mire and having to be pulled out by tractors!. A large Food Festival also had to be cancelled for the same reason. I imagine a lot of charities who were relying on events for their fund raising efforts will have been very disappointed. Expect the garden centres were pretty empty too !

It's the poor Nurseries i feel sorry for, the garden centres will probably still be full of people buying the never ending tat they sell... :)
Rained all night and still raining heavily at the moment....the water is running off the fields. But it is looking brighter at the end of the week and warm too....yipppeeee. :)

The local lambing open day event here had to be cancelled too - due to waterlogged fields. Such a shame.

We've had about 4 inches of snow but it's raining now so hopefully it won't take long to melt. The snow ploughs and gritters have been out in force but not on our road as usual. Won't be planting the onion setts today either but two tomato seedlings have germinated over night so I'm making some progress.

OH's optimism seems you have deserted him this year!
We are on British Summer Time, yet no "Early Spring 2018" thread yet, not even s "Delayed Spring 2018."
So I'll start one myself!

The plants that are in greenhouse are even sulking and looking fed up with this weather, a little like me..... :)
