Was busy hoeing the veg patch when I spotted some one inch high "weeds" which I didn't recognise. Then I remembered I had let a dill plant go to seed last autumn and realised it has provided me with some nice little freebie seedlings. They're in totally the wrong place for this year's planting but I assume I will be able to transplant them once they have become a little more robust?

Pleasant enough day, planted my Pink Fir Apple tatties and a few others(can't remember what they are, so it'll be a lucky dip).

I've been getting things in place, for covering all the potatoes that have come through and are now prone for the forecast frosts next week.
Kind Regards, Old Herbaceous.

Oh my goodness gracious me, we're promoted to National League One.
Still got the last match of the season at home next week!

Why would a herb be in the wrong place for your other planting?
They aren't involved in any crop rotation as far as I know?

Because the dill seedlings are in the patch where this year's Curly Kale and Swiss chard are going to be grown. I suppose I can always let the dill grow up around them.

Back to work tomorrow after a wonderful week off & every bit of lottie is clear & some wee seedlings are popping up. (I have to admit I have already veered away from the planting plan - how did I manage to forget parsnips, celeriac & swede, fortunately I also mis-counted the numbers of beds so just a wee bit of tinkering I was able to get them in) - I hope they are good bedfellows!

Although 18 degrees today at lottie today I have everything snugged up tight waiting for the frosts due Tuesday night, I'm sure they won't mind the extra warmth even if we don't get the frost.

I wouldn't do that yet Robo. I've just listened to the weather forecast! Brrr.
