My patio is made of 2foot square ornamental concrete paving fags. They collect a lot of moss during the winter and are a B------d to clean and keep free of moss. Does anyone know of a chemical water type solution that can be applied freely to remove the moss easily, and hopefully clean the flags, before power washing the patio, which is rather large and is a time consumng job that I could do without at this busy time of year. If any recommended product will save me doing the power washing that will indeed be a bonus.

Hi Brenjon,
I can highly recommend the following:-
ALGON ORGANIC ALGAE CONTROL.
Kills Alge, Moss and Lichen on Brick, Stone, Concrete and Tarmacadam etc.,
Contact Algon on 01257 262620 to find out where it is obtainable in your area.
It is a chemical and is has a warning that it is an Irritant.
I used it to clean paths that were all covered with moss an Algae and it did the job admirably. I also cleaned the outer of one of my Polytunnels and that was like magic.
It looks like the answer to a maidens prayer for you!

Hi Chantal,
It is listed to be OK on glass although I have not put this into practice.
It really is the best preparation I have come across to do the job it is said to do.

Jeyes do a path cleaner, widely available (DIY warehouses), I've only used it once, so am unsure how long the effect will last, but it's kept it clear for three months at least.
Do not put off thanking people when they have helped you, as they may not be there to thank later.

My mum used to put a cup of bleach in a bucket of water which did the job but you don't want it running off on plants. As for me.....I like the moss!
