I am woefully behind with festive stuff, just having a clean up around the house so that I can put up decorations.
Are you all ready?

Add me to the humbug list

I love Christmas, probably has a lot to do with that i won't buy into this modern hype. Just take everything steady, don't get talked into going to too many places and certainly don't do the huge expence side of it.
It's the Christmas Carol Service tomorrow afternoon, now i do enjoy that...and it doesn't have anything to do with the cakes afterwards.
Just finished wrapping a few little presents and now going to pot and moss up a few more Hyacinths into their decorative pots. I give these to people i work for, and also to a few people in the village that i know love them and probably won't get anything.

Oldherbaceous that sounds idyllic. It is very much the way I have been trying to get back to as well for a few years now, unfortunately those around me are still embroiled with the hyped up style of a commercial Christmas.
I bet you'll have chestnuts roasted on an open fire as well

I have the chestnut pan at the ready, and the toasting fork.
Pa Snip, don't get me wrong i have been at the Christmas presents and paper everywhere, then rushing from one house to another and some people getting upset....i think people were a little put out for a few years, but a few of them are starting to adopt the, "less is more approach" and do seem a lot happier at this time of the year.
But i do realize everyone has their own ideas of what they want, so i would never push my thoughts onto them.
This year, it will just be us four, my Mum and Cooks Mum and Dad. Normally there's about ten of us but, Cooks, Brother, Wife and little girl want to try the quite approach....i'm sure they wiil be able to enjoy their little girls reactions to things a lot more, having the extra time for her.

I don't do the over the top bit either, himself and I set a modest price for gifts to each other, the lads get more but again not over the top as three are grown up and earning more than me....
I did get some decorations up, don't have room for a tree so it's swags in a couple of places and then pots of greenery. Himself had to cut down a bay tree for someone a couple of weeks ago and that's come in very handy with some ivy trails as well, brass candlesticks come into their own and bowls of fruit make it look very 'baroque'.

We did have a lovely Christmas Service at the Chuch this afternoon. had a good turn out of just over forty folk, what is a very good number for our tiny village.
I also seemed to get more hugs than normal, too.

Dear Elaine, it has been warmly recieved, thank you.
I just popped a pot of hyacinths along to someone who lives down the road, and ended up bleeding there radiator system for them....it could only happen to me....
