I have successfully (well they were free for a few months) treated a pot of the red flowered strawberries with vine weevil killer but one plant has some new notches out of the leaves. I have made sure we don't eat the fruits after using the treatment as it is systemic but noticed in another post that someone had treated something edible.

How long do you have to wait until the crops are edible again?

I'm going to dig the affected plant up and try and remove any grubs before they spread to the rest of the pot - might be too late.

At least the flowers are ornamental too.

Still no rain here. The Farmers Guardian reported today that England had 77mm in the first 13 days of July - we have recorded 22mm so far and that was at the very beginning of the month, following a dry June, too. Hoping for some downpours tomorrow but I wouldn't be surprised if it misses us again......

Is it time for a Mid-summer Bits and Bobs, OH?

Really hot here yesterday, and then the storm arrived last evening.
Very strong winds, heavy rain, and thunder most of the night.

Good job I left all my onions spread out on the plot to dry
Cheers PJ.

I'm just off down the greenhouse. I won't be long...........

Morning Peter, not sure where it went, but i thought i replied to your post yesterday, maybe i didn't press the submit button!!! It did arrive as you predicted, and hasn't really gone away. :)

My onions and shallots are spread out on the allotment to dry too, PJ. :)

Dear Monika, i think today is a good time to start the Mid-Summer Bits and Bobs, leave it in my capable hands. :)
Kind Regards, Old Herbaceous.
