Hi All,
our local parish council has put our plot rents up again, therefore we are left with no choice but to pass on the increase to our members.
Have your councils put your rents up for the 2013 season, and if so have you passes on the increase to your plot holders.
What is the costs on the plot rents on your site for a full and half plot. Currently ours are £15.00 for half and £20.00 for a full plot, but look to go up to £20.00 half and £25.00 for a full plot. We have no water on site and no facilities, although the council recently gave us £50.00 towards the cost of a new mower.
Thanks
Tracie

Cardiff Council have put up the allotment rents by a swingeing 36.86% this year, payable from February.
Category A was £5.62 per perch-now £7.70.
Category B was £5.48 per perch- now £7.50.
Category C was £ 5.26 per perch-now £7.24
I am allowed a 50% concession because I am an O.A.P. for my three sites totalling 15 perches in Category B which will cost me £56.25 this year.Category B means a site with fencing,made-up roads, and piped-in water supply.

We come under Reigate & Banstead, Surrey - when we first took on a full plot in 2004 it was £28.00, half that for a half plot, and 50% discount for anyone 60 and above whatever size plot they take.
This increased by £1.00 each year until 2011, so % increase was falling each year beginning with 3.57% and ending with 2011 costing 2.94% more than 2010.
For 2012 the cost went from £35.00 to £38.50, so a 10% increase, 2013 is £42.40 which is 10.13% increase, and 2014 will be £50.00 which is 17.92%.
We have some water provision, though it is turned off in the winter, and a communal shed for storing things if you want to risk it.
Whilst I appreciate that our charges are less than some other sites, it is a worrying trend and makes me think that in a few years time we will be unable to meet the costs.

ours is going up to 20 pence per square meter, but we do have 2.4 meter high security fencing all the way round the allotments and water on tap, we also get as much shredded bark as we want for footpaths, and 50 percent discount for unemployed and disabled
