Don't know if this has been done on here before, but here's my recipe for Carrot Whisky. Enjoy !

Ingredients

6lbs carrots
4lbs sugar
1 gallon water
¾ lb chopped raisins
2 lemons
2 oranges
1lb clean wheat
1oz yeast

Method

1. Wash carrots and boil in the gallon of water until tender
2. Strain onto the lemons and oranges (sliced).
3. Add the 4lbs of sugar
4. Stir until dissolved
5. When cool, add the raisins, wheat and yeast.
6. Leave in bucket to ferment for 12 - 15 days
7. Skim, strain and bottle. Fit airlock.

This seems like an important topic, so should be treated with respect to the original poster. Is there any chance we could sample the end results of your recipe Andy, before I go an dedicate several rows of my allotment to this venture?

In the past, we've used meeting places like Malvern Show for such clandestine gatherings - that looks like quite a drive for you. However if you could make it, I'd gladly swap a glass of Carrot Whisky for a glass of our 2007 Mangelwurzel d'Yquem .

Also, is the wine produced pretty strong stuff, or are you going to be introducing us to some illict distilling techniques in due course?

I have to say that it is something of an acquired taste (usually after you've run out of meths and anti-freeze) but it can be as strong as hell. If you try it and don't like it, don't despair because it can also be used as an industrial strength weedkiller and a professional standard paint stripper....... :D

PS - Actually, I rather like it.
