Easy Apple Wine (otherwise known as 'supermarket special' in our family)

To make one gallon, all you need is:
4 x 1 litre cartons of pure apple juice. It doesn't matter if the juice is made from concentrate, as long is it doesn't contain any preservatives. We used the supermarket's cheapest brand and it was ok!
Enough water to make this up to one gallon
One sachet of wine yeast
Approximately 1 1/2 lb sugar
, though ideally you want to test the specific gravity and aim for a reading of about 1090.

Let it ferment in a bucket for a couple of days before transferring to a demijohn, because there's a risk of overflowing if you start it in the demijohn.

We found it was drinkable after 10 weeks, though it is bound to get better if you have the patience to wait longer :!:

I'm told that you can use the basic recipe with any pure fruit juice you fancy, though it's best to use at least 50% apple or grape juice.

Enjoy :D
