Here's the recipe from this month's BBC Good Food Magazine.

Layer 200g of blackberries in a jar (Kilner or similar) with 80 - 100g of castor sugar. Add 300mls of Brandy. Replace the lid and shake well to dissolve the sugar.

Store in a cool, dark place, shaking occassionally. Should be ready to filter and drink after (quote) a few weeks.

In the article, they top it up with fizz and serve it as an aperitif.
