I do like a Gooseberry but as I'm both not allowed too much sugar and I'm supposed to be losing weight, the usual crumble is off limits this week, so.......................
Guzz gogg and strawberry ice lollies, after the success with the Black Currants I'm on a roll, stew the berries gently, put through the liquidiser and pour into moulds, I'll let you know what they taste like tomorrow. I'm a tad nervous as the Gooseberry ice cream I made a few years back was a disaster, I often wondered why you never get guzz gogg ice cream........................I know now, it was so wrong on so many levels, but it was expensive to make, so I ate it, but in very small portions with a biscuit.

Well only one thing to say about Guzz gogg lollies.................................don't do it.............................just wrong....again, yet I love those gooseberry fools you can buy from Morrisons..............back to the drawing board.
We have just taken delivery of more lolly moulds, so a whole large tub of Lemon yoghurt now resides in them, will report back tomorrow(if they have set).

That’s strange the gooseberries didn’t work Tigerburnie, in theory they sound as if they should be delicious!

Always interested to have new recipes forGoosegogs. We still have some in the freezer from last summer before we even start on this year's. The problem is they do need a lot of sugar whatever you do with them, especially as we have to pick ours before full ripeness to stop the wood pigeons getting at them, so they're not the best of fruit for those trying to limit their sugar intake.

Well the Lemon Yoghurt lollies are a huge success, certainly recommend them on a hot day, as for the Gooseberries, well SWMBO suggested adding some Lemon Curd to the mixture, that seems to have improved it no end, so we'll see how that turns out over the weekend. Now looking for for more fruit to turn into lollies.

Well the addition of lemon curd to the gooseberry lollies have made them much nicer, if I'm honest though, you would barely know there were any guzz goggs in it.............

Stephen, That last post of yours reminds me of what one of the Dubliners (who was renowned for his drinking) said.
"The first pint of Guinness was the best of the day....it took away the taste of the toothpaste".
Don't wait until it's gone, before you appreciate what you have.
