Is it better to hand wash or use dishwasher?

I think it depends on how many people live with you. I live alone, so I do not need to use a dishwasher at all, because it is easier to clean the dishes by myself. But my sister uses it and she waits for the big amount of dishes to wash it :wink:

Very simple, a dishwasher for the whole family, washing by hand for 1-2 people in the family

From a hygiene point of view, the dishwasher is better. The main reason being that it's likely to give it a hotter and more thorough rinse than anyone handwashing would probably do. It also usually finishes with a drying 'cycle' so there's no need for people to 'dry the dishes'. This avoids the possibilty of anyone using a less than pristine cloth. (I'm sure no one here would!) Just saying what's the usual in a commercial kitchen.
