Have now harvested 4 out of my 5 potato containers and am wondering whether my yields are par for the course. (4 potatoes to a bag)

Anya 1 lb 1 oz
Charlotte 2 lbs 13 oz
Charlotte 3 lbs 5 oz
Kitchen sprouters 4 lb
Pink Fir Not yet harvested

Sounds like bags are really bad news but if you haven't got the space I suppose they are better than nothing. In the ground you would better those yields from one seed potato.

I'm wondering whether the low yield was partly due to a heat problem. These thick glossy waterproofed bags get very hot when the sun shines on them and the heat of this must penetrate through to the compost inside the bags and perhaps overheat it? I noticed that the compost dried out really quickly. Sometimes when it was really sunny I was having to water them twice a day.
