Has anybody tried this variety of cucumber before? Just bought a packet from Lidl (47p and a huge amount of seed). Not a great amount of detail on the packet but states its ideal for pickled Gherkins. Am I right in assuming they will grow to a decent size if left longer on the plant?

Hi TM

Don't know it, but it is a variety for pickling. If left it will fatten up and go seedy. Have a look at this German site find Restina a little down the page and click for image. That's what you'll get.

I've grown these and pickled them for them for the past three years and they've been great.

I've just noticed the name is Restina and not Retsina - I couldn't imagine a cucumber tasting of Retsina.
