Broad bean pate,
Our plot neighbour had a go at making broad bean pate this year and it ended up in the bin - she said it tasted foul!

Broad beans are definitely a flawed design aren't they - I hate podding them too - maybe someone should cross them with either a pea or a banana!!
They also seem to make my nails go black!

Are red flowered and purple flowered different types as our purple flowered ones taste the same as the green ones?

When I said red i was referring to 'crimson flowered broad beans' which are a heritage variety I have never heard of purple ones.

Mandylew -
Just checked with the seed company website - Robinsons - and ours are called Red Flowered they looked purple to me though.

We did save seed from last year and have had lots of variation in colour so maybe that's why I am mistaken!
