Hi I have a massive cabbage, & I cant eat it all before it starts to go bad. Can I chop this up and put in the freezer as it is?
Hope someone can help.

Hi Skinnybum
I've never frozen cabbage but a guy on our allotment freezes half his crop every year and says it works well.
You can apparently either chop and blanch (1-1.5 mins) then drain and pack into bags.
Or blanch and then open freeze before packing into bags.
Or clean and chop into strips then open freeze before packing into bags.
Or clean leaves, leave them whole and open freeze before packing into bags.
Seems pretty versatile stuff

Yummm they all sound really good so I will give them all ago.
I have chopped the cabbage up and put it in a freezer bag with out cooking it and left the bag open in the freezer draw.
So I check it yesterday and low and behold it has frozen well and not stuck together as I thought that it would so I have given it a quick shake, sealed the bag, and it lives happily ever after in the deep freeze
I did try giving it to the dog, as she loves a carrot or two, but the dog, she say Noooooo.
Might try a soup next as I have a few more that I over wintered coming up.
