Hi John,
Not a very good sleeper in bed due to arthritis. I generally have an afternoon nap then go at it again and I never see the end of the 10 o'clock news. When I wake up I start again. It seems strange to some people but I can exist on 4 hours sleep a day. I have got to be doing something all the time.
Probably put down as a nutter now! Probably right!

Thank you Johnboy

I knew you would help me and I must add that I did plant the Pentland Brig because of your advice in some previous post and I don't regret it just waiting for the spears now but I have plenty of Purple Sprouting right now.

Thank you.

The side shoot cuttings I took a week or so ago are doing well in that they are growing a bit, so they are obviously functioning OK whilst roots form. But every bit of growth is flower buds from the leaf axils. I have been pinching those out as well and I end up with a stumpy little plant that appears to have no growing point at all.

I shall carry on just to see what happens but how are they likely to progress?

The old plants in the garden are still making side shoots as fast as ever but we are eating those.
