Made these several years ago - from the Perfect Pickle book that accompanied the 1980's BBC program of the same name.
The final pickle liquid is dark, spicy, sweet yet with a vinegary bite. Offered one on a cocktail stick to my sister.
- shut your eyes and try this
- Ever trusting of her big brother -whats that
- sheeps eyes

she never got round to trying them after that!

Oh you grotbag Cliff. You remind me of my sister. More years ago than I care to remember, she had a chilli and said 'here try this, it's delicious'. Well, when I recovered from having my mouth burnt out, I was not best pleased.

Practical jokes, particularly if they hurt, are just not funny!!

Again, I do have a sense of humour, honestly.

Pamperedpet,

12 peppadew seeds have germinated and they will have pride of place in the tunnel.

Thanks
Kindest regards Piglet

Well, Piglet - since trying those Peppadews of yours, I have been to Tescos and bought the last two jars on the shelf. Hope you're not running low! Even better, OH is not that keen on them. Thanks for the chilli plants too!

Hi Chantal

Could you please tell me where you get grape vinegar from as mentioned in your above recipe.

Thanks in advance

I'm sorry, I have no idea. I've never made the things myself, just did some internet research.

However, I'm pretty sure Piglet made some so if you send him a PM he may well be able to help you out.

There's a Home Bargain shop at Perry Barr B/ham, I haven't bought anything there so can't compare prices.

Hi,
Just a guess, but I would think that grape vinegar is the same thing as wine vinegar. For the pickled peppers, I'd use the white one unless you want to add colour, in which case red wine vinegar would do.

Hi,

I managed to get seeds last year, this year was my first peppadew harvest.
See my blog post for the recipe I used for pickling the peppadews. Hope this helps others who got hold of peppadew seeds.
